All-Clad HA1 vs NS1 – Detailed Comparison

All-Clad is a famous cookware brand in the United States. Customers love their cookware, but there’s a whole lot of confusion about All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware lineups regarding wha’s the difference?

Both All-Clad’s HA1 and NS1 cookware lines are high quality, but HA1 offers better value with its larger product range and lower prices. The main differences are the lid material (HA1 has glass, NS1 has stainless steel) and the cookware design (HA1 is curved, NS1 is straight).

Now, let’s get into the details!

Key-Takeaways: All-Clad HA1 Vs NS1

All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware are both made with hard anodized aluminum, and the products are excellent in quality.

All cookware has a non-stick interior and strong handles. They’re oven and dishwasher-safe. However, the difference comes in the design, mainly in the lid, as NS1 features a metal lid, and HA1 cookware comes with a glass lid.

Besides that, the cooking range of All-Clad NS1 is limited to a few products compared to a big range of HA1. Also, the All-Clad NS1 cookware collection is expensive compared to the HA1 cookware.

All-Clad HA1 Cookware – An Overview

All-Clad HA1 means hard anodized non-stick cookware. These cookware are basically made with aluminum but not the traditional one. Instead, the aluminum used in the production of HA1 cookware undergoes an electrochemical process.

Due to this process, the cookware material becomes harder, more durable, and resistant to corrosion. Besides that, all HA1 cookware of All-Clad is non-stick, making the cleaning process super easy for you.

The variety is also large; All-Clad has around 27 product listings for hard-anodized cookware, which includes different cookware sets and pans that you can buy separately. All cookware is oven-safe, and some of them are even induction-friendly.

All-Clad NS1 Cookware – An Overview

NS1 is also a famous cookware collection of the All-Clad brand. In simple words, NS1 is a non-stick range made with hard anodized aluminum material and a stainless steel base.

The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the variety of the NS1 collection isn’t as big as hard anodized. However, the quality and performance of the cookware are exceptional. The handles, base, surface, everything is up to the mark.

Apart from that, all skillets are induction-friendly, allowing you to utilize the induction hob at home easily. The non-stick surface also makes NS1 great for cooking without making a mess, as it’s easy to clean.

Material & Non-Stick Surface

The first similarity I’ve noticed between the All-Clad HA1 and NS1 is the material and the non-stick surface of all cookware.

Both cookware collections are made with anodized aluminum, which is more sturdy and durable than normal aluminum because of its scratch-resistant feature. It means the cookware is built to last. The cherry on top is that HA1 (hard anodized) material heats up faster and more evenly, making the cooking process fun and easy.

Handle Design

The design of the handles and material is quite impressive. I used to face issues with cookware handles because some brands offer cheap handles that don’t stay in place and sometimes even break. However, that’s not the case with All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware.

As shown in the image, the handles are made of stainless steel. They’re not only durable, but you also don’t have to worry about them coming loose or breaking while you’re cooking. The only problem with the handles is since the material is stainless steel, they become hot.

Induction Compatibility

Around three products are available in the NS1 cooking range on Amazon, and all of them are induction-friendly, thanks to the stainless-steel base.

All-Clad HA1 also offers a few induction-compatible cookware sets that have stainless steel discs at the bottom, but remember, not all HA1 cookware is induction-compatible. You must check the product description before buying the HA1 cookware.

Oven & Dishwasher Safe

Another notable similarity between All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware is their convenience when it comes to cooking and cleanup.

Both collections are designed to be oven-safe for up to 500F, allowing you to start your culinary creations on the stovetop and finish them in the oven. Remember that 500F is for the cookware, not for the lid.

All-Clad HA1 cookware has glass lids that are only safe up to 350°F in the oven. However, as for NS1 cookware, the lids are made with stainless steel, so they can easily withstand high temperatures of 550-600°F.

Main Difference Between HA1 And NS1 All-Clad

Difference In Design

I’ve noticed a small difference between the designs of All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware. Below, on one side, you can see the image of the NS1 saucepan; it has straight walls, while the HA1 saucepan wall is curved.

All-Clad HA1 cookware has a glass lid, and NS1 features a stainless steel lid on top. Both works exceptionally, but in terms of durability and oven compatibility, the stainless steel lids are a better option.

The HA1 collection offers a more extensive range of cookware options compared to NS1. You can find numerous HA1 products to suit various cooking needs; the NS1 collection is more limited in terms of available choices.

Price Difference

One of the most apparent distinctions between All-Clad HA1 and NS1 cookware is their price range. Surprisingly, NS1 cookware tends to be more expensive. To know the price difference you can check price of below two different frying pans.

All-Clad HA1 & NS1 Which one to Choose?

If you asked me, my recommendation would be the All-Clad HA1 cookware rather than NS1. Not because All-Clad NS1 cookware is bad; it’s just the options are limited, and the price is high.

In contrast, at a lower price, you get to choose the right cookware from the big collection of All-Clad HA1 cookware. The overall quality and material are similar; the only main difference is in the design. First, the lids are made of glass instead of stainless steel, and the cookware body is curved a little bit.

Final Words

So, for me, the winner between All-Clad HA1 vs. NS1 is obviously the HA1 hard anodized cookware collection.

The primary reason behind it is the top-notch quality. All of the cookware is extremely durable and has a non-stick surface. You can use them in the oven and also clean them in the dishwasher. On top of everything, the cost of HA1 cookware is budget-friendly.
